State the decision. Full stop.
""I've decided to [X].""
No "because," no "I know you might think," no "I hope that's okay." The decision is the statement.
When they ask why
""It's what I want to do.""
True. Sufficient. You don't owe a policy brief on your life choices.
When you feel the over-explanation coming
"(Internal: Say one sentence. Then stop speaking. Count to three. The silence is okay.)"

Context is sometimes useful. A full justification history is not. One sentence, then done.
